When you become pregnant, you feel an inherent urge to protect. To protect that small little being growing in your body from all of the nasties out there
and chemicals are definitely one of those nasties – both in the food you consume and the products that you use on your skin.

Many people choose to take more of a natural approach when pregnant and so it makes sense that women tend to favour chemical free skincare over others.

Avoiding ingredients like Propylene Glycol, Parabens, Mineral Oils and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is always a good start – Vitamin A also often comes under
close scrutiny too and is something we are asked about.

The Vitamin A that we include in our A-C-E Vitamin C Serum is Retinyl
Palmitate. Dr Fernandes suggests when asked which is the safest Vitamin A, “Retinyl Palmitate cannot cross the placenta membrane. “ He also goes
onto say, “It is extremely unlikely that topical Vitamin A could ever pose a health risk and that the oral administration of Vitamin A should be
the real focus of people trying to control or minimise serum Vitamin A levels in pregnancy.”

While it is comforting to hear this information from Dr Fernandes, we are mindful too that everyone will do their own research in order to make an
informed choice on what to use and what not to use. Knowledge really is power and gives you peace of mind when you finally make your decision about
what skincare products you choose to use during pregnancy.
