Best Vitamin C Serum For Anti-Ageing

Vitamin C

Mismo Body Care has used science with a little help from nature to create its ACE serum. They have done this using synergy in the form of vitamins A, C & E. When put together as a combination these anti-oxidants really are the bench mark when it comes to fighting the signs of aging.

BEST VITAMIN COMBINATIONS FOR VITAMIN C SERUM

Vitamin A – Known as the skin vitamin, Mismo when doing its research decided on Retinyl Palmitate because it is a safe form of vitamin A and works on the cellular turn over. In younger skin the cell turnover is much quicker, as we age it slows down and shows up in the form of skin thickness, vitamin A’s job is to quicken it up, to thin the skin out again for that youthful look.

Vitamin C – This vitamin is an anti-oxidant so its job is to repair and encourage new even cell growth, it’s also a melanin inhibitor, over production of melanin shows up in the form of brown patches and freckles, vitamin C encourages a more refined and even skin look, it reduces the appearance of pigmentation and smooths the feel of the skin.

Vitamin E – The topical benefits of vitamin E are that it offers protection to the fat layer in the cell structure, this results in keeping moisturise in the skin. If you take the moisture away from the skin, the skin becomes dry and wrinkled.

VITAMIN C SERUM FOR ANTI AGEING BENEFITS

Mismo believes vitamin C is a necessity when it comes to anti-ageing so they incorporate it into two of their anti-ageing products, ACE Serum and their Anti-Wrinkle cream. These two products are two components of their Anti-Ageing trio.

Vitamin C is an important nutrient which is a vital component in the body’s production of collagen, these building blocks keep the skin plump and young looking, it is also a potent antioxidant that can help rejuvenate aged skin and skin that has become photo-damaged due to over exposure of ultra violet rays. Over time this exposure causes deep set wrinkles, fine lines, brown marks due to the over production of melanin and loss of collagen and elastin. Think collagen as the frame that holds up the elastin – the bounce in our skin.

Mismo uses an oil form of vitamin C called ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, compared to vitamin C that is in a “water soluble” such as the ascorbic acid found in tablet and powder form. Water soluble vitamin C is very volatile and oxidises causing the vitamin C to change from an antioxidant which is great for the skin into a free radical toxin. Using an oil form of vitamin C ensures that the vitamin C can do its job for 12 – 18 months without oxidising.

Mismo also uses vitamin C in its Anti-Wrinkle cream, this cream contains the perfect synergy of A, C and E and has been coupled with hyaluronic acid another very important ingredient in skin care. Hyaluronic acid acts to plump up the skin from underneath acting like a cushion, helping to eliminate fine lines and even out deeper ones and also helps in preventing them in the first place. Hyaluronic acid has been promoted as a “fountain of youth” product.

So what do you get when you apply vitamin C to the skin? Younger looking skin that is for sure. ACE Vitamin C serum is a must use if you suffer from Rosacea or mature skin.

How MSM Works in Creams

MSM is a source of organic Sulphur.  Sulphur is a mineral needed for many important functions in our bodies and offers a myriad of health benefits for so many different conditions including arthritis, allergies, carpal tunnel, snoring, just to list only a few.

In addition to this, MSM has a great deal to offer your skin also as well as certain skin conditions like Rosacea and Acne.  MSM possess strong anti-inflammatory benefits which works to help calm any redness and reduce any inflamed skin. It also has the ability to help with the reproduction of healthier cells and restore any fragile cells back to strong, healthy ones. Which means positive outcomes for Rosacea and Acne sufferers.

In terms of what exactly MSM can do when used in creams, it can soften the texture of skin and what’s more exfoliation is also promoted which leads to better clarity of the complexion, which makes MSM a pretty great anti-aging tool.

All MiSMo moisturisers include MSM as one of the ingredients with New Age Moisturiser including the highest amount – over 10%. Which makes this moisturiser an ideal choice for those who suffer from skin conditions like Rosacea or Acne. The skin health benefits are fantastic when New Age Moisturiser is used. As an added bonus it also includes the ingredient Hyaluronic Acid, which means you will also receive some lovely anti-aging benefits too!

MiSMo received this lovely testimonial from Rochelle (an Acne sufferer) about how New Age Moisturiser worked for her-

I’ve suffered acne and oily skin for many years so have always tended to tread cautiously around moisturisers. My skin has improved significantly since switching to Mismo products (no more acne!) and I am so thankful I decided to now give the New Age Moisturiser a try – the new formulation is better than ever before and I am blown away at how it has changed my complexion. My skin is now soft and dewy and looks like it glows from within. My skin tone has evened out and best of all, the oilyness is gone!

Another product that contains a high amount of MSM is Cell Soother. Cell Soother is essentially an MSM Gel and has many and varied applications. It is a product that will also help to promote a light exfoliation and can be used to improve skin health, relieve sunburn and mozzie bites, soothe after waxing, reduce and eliminate cold sores and help to fortify pain relief in conjunction with Magnesium Gel Forte which also includes MSM.

To maximise the benefits of MSM, you can always consider using products that include MSM and also take MSM orally as a supplement. It’s a great way to give your skincare a boost from the inside too.

Don’t wait to start using MSM products your skin will thank you.

How Do You Fix Dry, Brittle Hair?

Three words, MSM Hair Treatment!

MSM is a source of organic Sulphur that can help to relieve many different health conditions (arthritis, allergies, Carpel tunnel are just some of these) and is also great to take daily to improve general well-being and increase energy.

It turns out among many of the fantastic benefits MSM has to offer helping repair and support hair is one of these.

To get a little technical MSM is needed for the synthesis of Collagen and is prevalent in Keratin, a tough protein substance needed for the health and maintenance of hair. In a nutshell, hair is made up of keratin, which is produced in the follicles in the outer layer of skin. As follicles produce new hair cells, old cells are being pushed out through the surface of the skin.

There has been research to show that MSM has helped with hair growth together with great results found when used on hair that has become dry and brittle from too many chemical hair treatments.

To receive the benefits MSM has to offer your hair there are two options. Take a daily dose internally (an average dose is one teaspoon) in a glass of water (warm water will help to dissolve the crystals quicker) which is what the research suggests for hair growth. Alternatively, in terms of chemically treated hair you can make a leave in hair treatment. You could essentially do both and receive benefits internally and topically also.

To make your own leave-in hair treatment simply mix 4 teaspoons of MSM into 250ml pure distilled water in a spray bottle and spritz onto the affected area daily. Hair should feel softer and stronger quickly.

MiSMo MSM is available in 440g and 850g quantities in both MSM Powder (Crystalised) and Distilled MSM.  You can use this to make your own hair treatment and also take a daily dose yourself. As mentioned above MSM has many health benefits for a range of health conditions so it is a great supplement to start including into your routine if not just for the fantastic general health and well-being properties.

Some further information regarding MSM you may be interested in – Hot sulphur springs have been used for therapeutic purposes for centuries.  The odour comes from the sulphur.  Sulphur has been known as the beauty mineral of the body and it is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body.  MSM has provedto be a great skin softener which helps prevent cross-linking of skin, a cause of wrinkles, lines and scarring.

What Does Hyaluronic Acid Serums Do For Your Skin?

When you talk about Hyaluronic Acid to someone not familiar with this ingredient the acid part conjures up all different types of thoughts and none that relate to beautiful skin!

BUT, it’s not an ingredient to be afraid of at all, in fact, Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in our bodies. It is a carbohydrate that binds to water giving it a stiff viscous quality similar to jelly. This gel is one of the most heavily researched substances who’s function in the body amongst other things is to help lubricate movable parts of the body, such as joints and muscles.

Its consistency and tissue-friendliness allows it to be used in skincare products as an excellent moisturiser. Interestingly, there is roughly 50% of Hyaluronic Acid found in our skin and is something we require in order to maintain our skin’s layers and structure. Hyaluronic Acid works with collagen to produce some pretty wonderful anti-aging skin benefits.

These include:-

  • Improved skin tone
  • Plumping
  • Keeps our complexions youthful = wrinkle-free

I am thinking right now you might just be wanting to know how you can get your hands on a serum that contains this ingredient and fast!

It just so happens a Hyaluronic Acid serum in MiSMo terms translates to Rejuvenating Gel. Moreover, MiSMo uses only pharmaceutical grade Hyaluronic Acid (which is also plant-derived) and lots of it too. In fact, up to twenty times more than other products, which is why Rejuvenating Gel is so effective. In as little as four days of using this serum, you will see visible results which include plumping and improvement to skin texture.

In addition to Hyaluronic Acid, MiSMo has also added another powerful anti-aging ingredient to the formulation, a peptide known as Matrixyl Synthe 6. This also helps to keep skin wrinkle free while also encouraging the production of collagen and elastin.

Here’s what Nicole had to say about Rejuvenating Gel:-

“Wow! I was given a bottle of Mismo’s Rejuvenating Gel for Xmas and have only been using it for two weeks – but what a difference. At 40 the lines around my eyes are beginning to show. This Gel is wonderful and in only a short time I am starting to see lines reduce. Highly recommend giving these products a go…thank you Mismo!!”

Because our Hyaluronic Acid supplies decline as we get older, a Hyaluronic Acid serum is just what you need to help top up and keep wrinkles and sagging skin at bay. What are you waiting for? Purchase your very own Rejuvenating Gel HERE now.

Interesting Hyaluronic Acid Fact – Hyaluronic Acid is highly concentrated inside the eyeball. The fluid inside the eye called the vitreous humor is composed almost completely of hyaluronic acid. The gel acts as a shock absorber for the eye and also serves to transport nutrients into the eye. It is said that after the 5th decade of life, our eyes stop producing the much needed Hyaluronic Acid resulting in various eye problems such as poor vision, dry eyes and floaters.

How Magnesium Helps You Sleep

I’ve finally been able to drop off to sleep after lying in bed tossing and turning for what feels like hours. For whatever reason, I am awake again and its only 1am. My mind starts to whir and it is hard to try and get back to sleep. I eventually close my eyes and succumb to sleep only to wake to the alarm feeling I’ve hardly had an ounce of sleep all night. I feel exhausted and not well rested at all.

Sound familiar?

If this scenario is something you experience on a regular basis then perhaps it might be time to explore the reasons why this might be happening and then consider adding the mineral Magnesium into your evening ritual.

Now you might be wondering why should I consider this and how exactly will Magnesium help me to sleep? Well here’s a couple of reasons.

Studies have found magnesium helps to decrease cortisol, which is also known as the “stress hormone.” In other words, cortisol is the flight or fight response your body produces when it feels threatened or under stress. Because Magnesium is able to decrease this chemical reaction, stress is then reduced which in turn can induce feelings of sleepiness and comfort which then helps to promote sleep.

In addition to decreasing cortisol, the sleep doctor adds, “Magnesium plays a role in supporting deep, restorative sleep by maintaining healthy levels of GABA (Gamma-amino butyric acid is an amino acid in the body that acts as a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It limits nerve transmission, inhibiting nervous activity), a neurotransmitter that promotes sleep.”

Another factor to consider, is muscle tension or cramps keeping you up at night? If so, this could indicate your body is low in magnesium. Muscle relaxant is vital for a good night sleep. Keeping your Magnesium levels topped up will ensure painful muscle cramps don’t happen. Tip – Apply MiSMo’s Magnesium Gel Forte with MSM roller bottle before going to bed and keep close on your bedside table.

If you’re looking for something to “knock you out”, Magnesium is not it, but it WILL help you to feel relaxed which in turn can lead to a better sleep. As an extra bonus, by using this mineral daily your health and well-being will be bolstered thanks to the many and varied health benefits it has to offer.

CHRONIC BACK PAIN CASE STUDY – Excerpt taken from The Miracle of MSM

In 1968, during a long and difficult delivery of her first child, Hermine Zubko suffered a hairline crack of a spinal bone in her lower back. In the weeks and months that followed Zubko experienced intermittent sever back pain. Over time, the pain became constant and frequently disabled her.

“There were many occasions when I couldn’t sit, bend, stand or walk without excruciating pain”, she says. Zubko was forced to give up her hair salon business. The pain had become overwhelming forcing her to try anti-inflammatories. She took them on and off but they gave her stomach pain and diarrhea.

The minuscule fracture in her spine eluded detection by contemporary X ray and other diagnostic methods for many years however, through MRI’s and more sophisticated medical diagnostics finally found Zubko to have severe arthritis, inflammation and thick scar tissue at the site of the original trauma. Degenerative arthritis is frequently associated with back pain. In Zubko’s case the arthritis developed as a consequence of the injury to the spinal bone tissue as well as the ageing process.

Following her diagnosis an orthopedic surgeon initiated a treatment program of cortisone injections along with physical therapy 3 times a week. The program was not successful and the pain continued. Another specialist offered her some glorified aspirin but said basically there was nothing he could do for her.

By now Zubko had been living with pain for more than 15 years. Zubko had practically lost all hope and couldn’t stand the pain anymore.  Zubko’s salvation from pain came as a result of a conversation during a physical therapy session. Her therapist suggested she could benefit from regular use of MSM.

Under the care of Dr Stanley Jacob she started taking MSM a few times a day. It took quite a while to feel results, but Dr Jacob kept encouraging her to continue. He said that for some people results came fast and for others it takes longer, each individual and each condition is different.

Then one day, eight months later, Zubko woke up with no pain.  She was able to walk, bend, return to work full time and finally get her life back.

You might wonder how the pain could disappear from one day to the next after many months of taking the supplement? In her situation, there was likely a very gradual reduction of inflammation and pain until one day she passed a threshold where the pain level is reduced to the point where it is no longer perceived by the brain.

There are many more fantastic case studies in The Miracle of MSM. Under the care of Dr Stanley Jacob and Dr Ronald M Lawrence thousands of patients were able to find significant relief using the nutritional supplement MSM from health conditions like degenerative arthritis, chronic back and headache pain, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome and many more.

Is Ageing Not For You?

We all know the saying about ageing gracefully. But what if some of us don’t want to age? Maybe we want to have some control over how quickly we age and can relate more to former Friends star Courtney Cox’s saying “Ageing gracefully is one thing, but trying to slow it down is another.”

We are able to slow down the process if we are proactive and put into place a few simple rules to follow. These include:

Sticking To A Daily Skincare Routine

This means cleansing every morning and evening, moisturising and using a treatment serum at both times. In MiSMo terms this means Rejuvenating Gel morning and night and A-C-E Vitamin C Serum of an evening. Incorporating a weekly exfoliation and mask will also help with additional plumping, hydration and extra anti-aging benefits.

An anti-ageing routine could like a little like this:

1. Natural Face Cleanser morning and night with a Microfibre Face Cloth before cleansing at night

2. Natural Face Exfoliator or Microderm Resurfacing Cream once a week

3. Rejuvenating Gel morning and night

4. ACE Vitamin C Serum night

5. Anti-Wrinkle Cream day moisturiser

6. Anti-Wrinkle Cream night after ACE Vitamin C Serum

7. Eye Cream Complex morning and night

Extra Treatment – PHP Treatment mask once a week or Firming Mask for temporary mini
face lift.

Using Products That Include Proven Anti-Aging Ingredients

Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid are both well and truly scientifically proven to have powerful anti-aging benefits. The latest trends in skincare come and go however, these ingredients continue to prove their superiority and staying power in the anti-aging realm. MiSMo’s anti-aging range includes Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, specialty active Matrixyle Synthe 6, MSM (source of organic sulphur) and Aloe Vera heavily. Visible results in your skin health can be seen very quickly when using all three MiSMo’s Anti-Aging products – Rejuvenating Gel, ACE Vitamin C Serum Anti-Wrinkle Cream, and our Eye Cream Complex.

Keeping Hydrated

As one terrific quote goes, “Healthy hydrated cells are the key to ageless skin and a healthy body.” Being mindful of water intake can reduce skin issues like dehydration (which only lead to more fine lines and wrinkles developing). Keeping yourself hydrated and using products that also offer hydration to your skin will ensure ageless skin.

Being Sun Conscious

As we all know the sun is not too friendly when it comes to anti-ageing. Wearing sun protection in the form of a moisturiser that includes a natural sun protection factor like Zinc and mineral makeup which also includes this mineral, will help to protect your skin from any further sun damage. Mineral Makeup is actually very healing and has many skin health benefits too, so you can enjoy both healing and protecting properties if you chose to wear Mineral Makeup.

Magnesium and Muscle Pain

Magnesium is an amazing muscle relaxant. I already knew this however, on a recent skiing trip I was so pleased at just how quickly magnesium worked to relax my aching thighs and sore neck muscles from the many skiing tumbles!

Early into the trip I had my Magnesium roller bottle circulating throughout the group who were also suffering various aches and pains with many genuinely surprised at the instant relief received.

There is no doubt, I don’t think I would’ve been able to get through six days of back to back skiing without my Magnesium!

So how does Magnesium work to relax muscles? Low magnesium results in lactic acid build up, so by topping up my Magnesium I was able to avoid any lactic acid build up. (Lactic acid is produced in muscles as a result of high intensity exercise which causes )

Magnesium is also vital in regards to muscle contraction. Ryan Hass from Livestrong explains it perfectly when he says,“ Magnesium directly interacts with your muscle tissue through a process called ion transportation. When magnesium contacts your cell membranes, it bonds with specific receptor sites that open up the cell membrane and allow other mineral ions to enter, such as calcium and potassium. These ions help regulate muscle contractions and ease muscle tension.”

MiSMo combines magnesium and MSM (source of organic Sulphur) in a powerful pain relief formulation called Magnesium Gel Forte with MSM. MSM is also well known for its pain relieving qualities and reducing any inflammation. The two minerals work very well together and was just what we needed on our recent trip. (I took the Magnesium Gel Forte with MSM roller bottle, a very handy size for traveling.)

Magnesium and MSM can help with any form of exercise whether it is a jog, a workout session at the gym, a game of tennis or even a day of gardening. All of these could benefit greatly from a dose of magnesium and MSM to help revive your muscles and get you back to a pain free day that you are able to enjoy.

Easy Ways To Fortify Your Skin Health

Healthy skin is something we all want for our skin. Sometimes life gets a little too busy and we get sidetracked and distracted from our usual routine, often putting ourselves last on the list. Being aware of this and making sure you take some time to give your skin the attention it deserves will not only make you feel better, but your skin too!

Here are a few very simple steps to follow to ensure you keep your skin’s health in check.

HYDRATION

Making sure you are drinking enough water and being mindful of not drinking too much as well is important. There are recommendations regarding how much a male and a female should drink a day however, these do not take into consideration factors like size, weight, how much physical activity and climate we live in.

“There are references that adult men should drink 2.6 litres of water per day (about 10 cups) and adult women should drink 2.1 litres per day (about eight cups). But these figures are based on the average weight of men and women, so if you’re underweight or overweight you may consider adjusting your fluid intake — Ms Taylor says a good rule of thumbis 35 millilitres of fluid per kilogram of bodyweight.”

Fluids like herbal teas, juice and coffee are also considered as part of your hydration. Interestingly, for those of you who were lead to believe coffee is dehydrating then it might be time to reconsider this. The Mayo Clinic suggests otherwise, “Drinking caffeine-containing beverages as part of a normal lifestyle doesn’t cause fluid loss in excess of the volume ingested. While caffeinated drinks may have a mild diuretic effect — meaning that  they may cause the need to urinate — they don’t appear to increase the risk of dehydration.”

SUPPLEMENTS

The mineral Sulphur has been called nature’s beauty mineral” because it is needed to keep hair glossy and skin clear and smooth. Sulphur is needed
for the synthesis of collagen and is prevalent in keratin necessary for the healthy maintenance of hair, skin and nails. MSM provides the necessary Sulphur supplementation to help maintain collagen and keratin levels.

Essential Fatty Acids like Evening Primrose Oil can help to fortify your skin health and in particular, help with age related changes like firmness
and redness. They are also helpful for problematic skin conditions like rosacea. Vitamin C is also another great supplement to take and a two pronged
approach is ideal if possible (taking it internally and using it topically), which leads to our next point below.

FEED YOUR SKIN WITH INGREDIENTS LIKE VITAMIN C AND HYALURONIC ACID

Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid are both ingredients that are well documented to have strong anti-aging properties. They also work wonderfully as a preventative from ageing.

Using serums with these ingredients included on a regular basis can help to make some big skin health changes. Vitamin C helps to prevent and protect against sun damage, increase firmness, elasticity and tone of skin while also increasing moisture in all levels of your skin. MiSMo’s ACE Vitamin C Serum would be perfect.

Hyaluronic Acid is essential for the structure of the skin matrix known as the extracellular. This is what gives the skin a youthful wrinkle free appearance and it is the combination of hyaluronic acid and collagen that help to maintain this. Feeding your skin with hyaluronic acid, (in the form of MiSMo’s Rejuvenating Gel) will help to plump, soften and smooth the skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and overall improve your skin’s appearance and health significantly.

SUN IN MODERATION

The sun is probably our worst enemy when it comes to lines, wrinkles and ageing however, we do need to make sure we get our daily dose of Vitamin D.

Try avoiding the hottest times of the day to get your sun fix which is suggested from between 10-3pm.

Protecting your skin with a mineral makeup or natural sunscreen and or moisturiser containing the likes of Zinc, can help to fortify your skin against UVA and UVB and rays.

REMOVE YOUR MAKEUP!

Ahh, this old chestnut. But very timely considering this time of year. Even if you simply use a microfibre cloth just to remove your makeup before bed is better than falling asleep in your full face of makeup.

In an ideal world, it would be great to follow your usual skincare routine, cleanse, serums and moisturise however, at the very least a microfibre cloth will do the trick.

So what are you waiting for? By following these easy steps you will be on your way to healthy and glowing skin in no time.

Snoring and MSM

Snoring. We’ve all done it at some point in our lives however, if it is happening regularly each night, and causing disruption to other people’s sleep, then it might be worth looking into why it is happening.

Snoring according to Snore Australia, is “when the muscles of the airway relax too much during sleep and vibrate (creating noise) when air we breathe passes in and out. “

They also go onto to suggest common causes of snoring, some of which include;

• Allergies

• Eating too much at night

• Nasal Congestion

• Being overweight

• Sleep position

• Swollen adenoids or tonsils, especially in children

There are quite a few options in regards to treatment for snoring, a great one to consider is visiting a Sleep Physican who specialises in sleep disorders and can make an informed recommendation and suggested treatment.

In addition to this, there are also some lifestyle changes that can also help. Considering a weight loss program if this is a factor may help to decrease snoring as will stopping smoking. Not only does smoking pose big health risks, but “tobacco smoke causes the walls of airways to retain fluid and swell (this is called oedema). This causes the airway to narrow, worsening snoring. Smokers are 4 to 5 times more likely than non-smokers to suffer from snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea,”explains Snore Australia.

Incorporating nasal treatments is also another option. In particular, a nasal spray containing MSM (source of organic sulphur) could assist. In a trial using MSM, sufferers of chronic snoring where given 16% MSM drops in a water solution in each nostril 15 minutes prior to bed. 80% reported reductions in snoring with no side effects whatsoever in 90 days.

If you’re waking up tired and not feeling you’re getting the restful sleep you need then perhaps snoring might be the culprit and a further look into why this might be happening could help you find ways to reduce and prevent it.
