Benefits of Movement

With Winter around the corner and mornings dark and chilly the motivation to move and exercise gets that little bit harder. (Believe me I know, I am facing this very battle at the moment!)

But I do know each time I drag myself out of bed and complete that boxercise class, my energy levels are boosted, my mood is lifted and my day tends to go that little bit smoother each time I’ve incorporated some kind of movement into it.

In fact the flow on effect from exercise/movement is huge and impacts not only physically and mentally, but believe it or not it can even help with your skin’s health too.

More specifically, Dr Challgren found that movement helped to increase blood flow, which in turn helped nourish skin cells and keep them healthy.




"Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to working cells throughout the body—including the skin. It has the effect of cleansing our skin from the inside", he explained.

The official recommendation by the department of health is that adults between the age of 18-64 should be incorporating some kind of movement most days, accumulating between 2.5 – 5 hours in total for one week.

I think the key is to finding a form of exercise or movement that works smoothly into your schedule, something that is easy to get to and something you enjoy! It’s even worth mixing it up if need be and having both summer and winter exercise options.

Why not start something today? That’s the hardest step, but once you do you will appreciate the benefits movement offers your body, mind and your skin too!
