Benefits of Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the ability to pay attention to the moment and all that is happening in it. It allows for acknowledgment of emotional states and automatic responses that might be based on trigger mechanisms, not appropriate responses. In therapy, mindfulness is used to help patients with a variety of mental health concerns such as depression and bi-polar syndrome. Mindfulness meditation has a vast array of benefits including stress reduction and it is something that can be learned very readily. Therapists are encouraging it and there is indication that those therapists who practice mindfulness have even greater success with their patients.
